Making our community great for pets and the people who love them
Admissions & Sheltering
All animals deserve a safe haven in times of need. NOCO Humane provides this safe haven as part of the Socially Conscious Sheltering movement. As an open admission shelter for companion animals, we are able to accept domesticated animals the size of a goat or smaller. Each year, nearly 12,000 animals come through our doors. Each of these animals that enter our shelter receives quality food, vaccinations and medical care, a clean kennel, socialization, walks, playtime and training; all delivered with compassion.
Animal Protection & Control
Our Animal Protection and Control team works around-the-clock to ensure northern Colorado is a great place for pets and people alike. We are contracted with the City of Fort Collins, City of Loveland and unincorporated areas of Larimer County to enforce and uphold local and state animal protection and control laws and ordinances. Lost & Found
Your pet is an important member of the family, and we are committed to keeping animals in homes with the families who love them. We offer temporary safe haven to lost animals until they can be reunited with their families.
Owner Surrender
Unfortunately, there are times when owners can no longer care for their pet, and we know how difficult a decision rehoming a pet can be. Click here to learn more about how this process works and what to expect.
End-of-Life Services
At NOCO Humane, we understand how difficult the decision can be to provide your pet with the final act of love and compassion through humane euthanasia. Whether due to illness or injury or a behavioral concern, we are here for you during this difficult process. Learn more and schedule an appointment here.
Adoption
NOCO Humane is a place where animals and people find love. Each year we are proud to help thousands of homeless animals find loving new families. Find your new best friend here!
Veterinary Services
The health and overall well-being of the animals in our care is our number-one priority. Our skilled veterinary staff works to heal sick animals, prevent disease and reduce pet overpopulation. Every day our veterinary staff saves lives and ensures they are free from pain, injury and disease.
Animal Care
Our Animal Care staff are the heartbeat of our shelters. Their dedication and compassion ensure the basic needs of each and every animal in our care is met. They provide animals freedom from hunger and thirst through quality food and clean water and freedom from discomfort by ensuring they always have a clean kennel with a comfortable resting area.
Foster Care
Not every animal that comes to us is ready to be adopted. Some need time to grow, others to recover from sickness or illness, and others may need to learn better behavior. Our foster care program is supported by volunteers who provide the love and nurturing these animals need to become healthy, adoptable pets. Learn more and become a foster volunteer today!
Transfer Program
Because of amazing strides in animal welfare in Colorado, we can look beyond the borders of our county and state to help other communities in need. When applicable, NOCO Humane accepts transfers from partnering animal shelters and rescues to help them free up kennel space, or to simply help that animal find a new home by putting them in front of a new audience. We may also need assistance from our transfer partners to welcome some of our animals into their care.
Behavior & Enrichment
Our knowledgeable Behavior & Enrichment team help make what can be an incredibly stressful time in an animal’s life as peaceful as possible, while helping them become the best versions of themselves through training and enrichment. They provide animals in our care the freedom to express normal behavior by providing time and space for play, socialization with humans and other animals, training, and mental stimulation. Learn more about our behavior resources.
Pet Licensing
Pet licenses are not only the law (in Larimer County), they make a difference. A license is your pet’s ticket home. Should they become lost, their chances of returning home greatly increases when they have a license. We reunite seven out of 10 strays dogs and one out of four stray cats with their owners. Pet licenses are also a means to protecting public health. Licenses help us better track the number of rabies and vaccinated pets in our community, all in an effort to protect public health. More than 56,000 animals are licensed each year and that number continues to grow. Click here purchase or renew your license.
Humane Education
We believe compassion for animals tomorrow begins with our humane education today. Our Humane Education program provides hands-on learning for all ages, promotes positive relationships with animals, and empowers young people to make a difference for animals in their community.
Community Outreach
Thanks to our Community Outreach program, you might see us in the community from time to time! From local events to fundraising engagements, NOCO Humane is proud to connect with its community and share valuable resources in the world of animal welfare. You might also score some free swag! View our calendar of upcoming events.
Volunteer Program
Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. We rely on a group of more than 600 volunteers to provide second chances to the nearly 12,000 animals that come through our doors each year. Volunteers touch every aspect of our organization, and we simply couldn’t fulfill our mission without them. Sign up for volunteer orientation.
Animal Welfare Legislation
NOCO Humane supports animal-friendly legislation and works collaboratively with local and regional agencies around the state to improve the quality of life for all animals.
