Join us at the “Adopt-a-thon” Event and Give Shelter Animals a Second Chance at a Loving Home
August 8, 2023 – It’s a heartwarming opportunity that can change lives – both yours and that of a deserving animal. We invite you to our much anticipated “Adopt-a-thon” event, taking place from Friday, August 11 through Sunday, August 13, at Larimer Humane Society. This special weekend aims to address a critical need in our community – finding loving homes for animals in need while creating much-needed space for future rescues and surrenders.
In recent months, our shelter has witnessed a concerning trend: animals are entering our doors faster than they are being adopted. The result? Crowded kennels and a dwindling capacity to provide the care and attention each animal deserves. We are faced with the urgent challenge of ensuring that every animal in our care finds a safe haven where they can thrive and be cherished.
The “Adopt-a-thon” event is our response to this pressing situation. During this event, we are waiving adoption fees for all animals, regardless of age, making it a little bit easier to open your heart and home to a deserving companion. Additionally, we are offering a 20% discount on select items in our retail store, giving you a chance to spoil your new best friend with top-quality products. Lastly, we are providing microchip implants (and registration) to our community’s pets for the low cost of $25 – all adopted dogs and cats will have already been microchipped.
“This event is vital so that we can get as many animals out of the shelter and into homes as possible,” said Shelter Manager Brett DeWester. “Our intake numbers have risen significantly in the last year and getting more animals into their forever homes opens up those kennels so that we can help even more animals in the future.”
All animals are lovingly cared for at Larimer Humane Society and provided with a general medical examination and testing for good health. Each adoption also includes:
- Preliminary vaccinations
- Microchip implant and registration
- Collar and leash (dogs) for safe travel home
- Spay or neuter surgery
- Complimentary post-adoption medical exam from a participating veterinary clinic
- Complimentary first month of pet health insurance
- Discount on your first purchase from Poudre Pet & Feed Supply
Our Behavior Team and Client Services Team are available during business hours to answer questions you may have about a specific animal and whether he/she could be a good fit for your home. We also host a Behavior Help Line for anyone to call (whether you’ve adopted from us or not) and pose questions or concerns about their pet’s behavior, and our Behavior Team will provide tips, tricks, and guidance for navigating undesirable behaviors.
